Give Write is a Western Australian charity that collects new and gently used school stationery and repurposes it for children who would otherwise attend school without the essential tools for learning. The organisation sorts, tests, and repackages donated items before distributing them to disadvantaged students across WA through schools, teachers, and community agencies.

Their mission centers on classroom equality, every child has access to the basic supplies needed to participate confidently in their education. With one in six WA children living below the poverty line, Give Write’s work helps break down barriers to learning by providing practical support where it’s needed most.

By reducing landfill and alleviating out of pocket expenses for teachers, the organization ensures that all children have the essential tools needed to succeed int he classroom. Drop off your new or preloved school supplies, help sort repackaged and assemble packs at the Give write headquarters. Or become an official Give Write donation collection point today and join Alexis in working with your local primary school community to help reduce, reuse and  recycle.

The Magic Coat Foundation is a child‑focused organisation dedicated to helping young people feel safe, confident, and emotionally supported. Their programs teach children practical tools to manage emotions, build resilience, and navigate challenges, all while protecting the rights of every child to feel secure, valued, and empowered.

At the heart of the Magic Coat program are a series of meaningful characters that help children understand their feelings and strengths in a fun, relatable way. Our favourite 3 would have to be:

  • Tate the Turtle lives on the outside of the Magic Coat. Tate can’t hide in his shell, reminding children that courage comes from within. He teaches young people that even when things feel scary or new, they can find bravery deep inside themselves to face challenges or try something different.

  • Obi the Octopus lives in one of the coat’s pockets. With eight arms and a big heart, Obi helps children understand that emotions aren’t just “happy” or “sad.” There are many different feelings we can experience, and all of them are valid. Obi encourages children to recognise, name, and express their emotions safely.

  • The Pocket Full of Starfish symbolizes diversity and acceptance. Each starfish is unique, just like every child. This pocket reminds us that we are all born different and that those differences are something to celebrate. We are not meant to be the same, and kindness means loving and accepting others exactly as they are.

Through workshops, school programs, and community partnerships, the Magic Coat Foundation supports children’s rights to emotional safety, mental wellbeing, education, and healthy development. Their work aligns beautifully with the mission of Kindness Counts Hub: creating communities where every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to shine.
